You are so welcome at our in-person Gatherings at Central. There’s something for everyone, with each of our Gatherings catering to a slightly different demographic. To join us, please use the link below.
Beginning Sunday 5 September, we are entering into a new rhythm of Gatherings here at Central. On a monthly basis, we will gather as a whole church, in our different demographic groups, and scatter as individual Communities. You can watch the video below for a description of what this will look like for our church, but here is a summary:
On the first Sunday of each month, we have one ‘All In’ Gathering, incorporating our whole church family. This Gathering is at 10.30am, and there is no Gathering at 9.15am or 7pm.
On the middle two Sundays, or the middle three in a five-Sunday month, we have three Gatherings throughout the day. These are at 9.15am, 10.30am and 7pm. Each Gathering caters to a slightly different demographic, but feel free to com along to whichever one best suits your availability or preferences.
On the last Sunday of each month, we will have an ‘All Out’ Sunday. On these Sundays, there will be no Gatherings at Central Hall. Instead, we will be encouraging Communities to meet together in their local contexts. It’s totally up to each Community how they choose to spend this time, but here’s some ideas:
Not part of a Community yet? Take a look at our Communities page or get in touch with Odele to find out how to join one.
Our gatherings are informal and you don’t need to dress up. We have a welcome team who will greet you when you arrive and can answer your questions. As a church we have a wide age range of people worshipping with us – from almost 0 to over 100 in fact so please know that you will not feel out of place!
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the wearing of masks is still required during our Gatherings unless you are exempt. At the end of the Gathering, you may form a group of up to eight people from three households to chat over tea or coffee, at which point you may take off your mask. As Edinburgh is now in Level 0 we are no longer required to enforce social distancing in our Gatherings, however if you are concerned about being close to other households we would encourage you to book a balcony seat.
There are two suggested locations where free Sunday parking is allowed on the public roadway marked with a single yellow line. Each of these areas can accommodate lots of cars and are between 5-10 minutes walk from the building. The two locations are alongside the Meadows, on Melville Drive and along Ponton Street behind Central Hall. Unfortunately, free parking is not available nearby during the week.
Both metered parking and paid car parks are available within the vicinity of the church building (within 5 minutes walk). You will find car parks at Princes Exchange in Riego Street, Fountainpark, and Semple Street.
There is currently no provision for bicycle storage and/or security at Central Hall.
Tollcross is well served by a number of Lothian bus services. The 2, 10, 11, 15/15a, 16, 23, 27, 30, 45 services all stop nearby.
