10 years ago, we as a church decided to collate our resources through a mixture of loans and one-off gifts in order to purchase Central Hall as we outgrew out Morningside premises. It’s been such a blessing for supporting the growth and development of our Church vision. As we seek to look after the building well, ensuring it is fit for purpose and stewarded wisely, we’ve identified a need for some fairly major works to install new heating and ventilation systems, as well as insulation above the auditorium ceiling.
Following many conversations with consultants, we have estimated that the works will cost around £500,000. The project gained overwhelming support from members at our Church Meeting on 24 March 2021, and so we are in the process of finalising the scope of the work.
Our Finance Committee have modelled a plan with the aim of loaning half of the project cost, and raising the other half in cash and pledges towards the loan repayment over the next 10 years.
As we seek to continue the development of our Care ministries and look to re-gather again as a church coming out of pandemic restrictions in the coming months, we believe that Central Hall is a valuable asset and still a vital ‘vehicle’ for us as we seek to further our vision together as a church.
